Mumbai Indians (known in Marathi as: मुंबई इंडियन्स) is a cricket team in IPL representing the city of Mumbai. The team is also one of the eight founding members of the IPL in 2008. They are one of the main teams in the Mumbai city. The team is owned by Reliance Industries, through its 100% subsidiary IndiaWin Sports. The team's primary home ground is the Wankhede Stadium,but DY Patil Stadium is also its home ground. Mumbai Indians are currently captained by the retired Australian player Ricky Ponting and coached by John Wright. They won the 2011 Champions League Twenty20 after beating Royal Challengers Bangalore,who were also from IPL, by 31 runs in the low-scoring final. Their best performance at the IPL came in 2010 when they finished runners-up to the Chennai Super Kings.Sachin Tendulkar has scored the most run ever for the team while Lasith Malinga is the leading wicket-taker of not only the team but also in the IPL history.They and Pune Warriors India are the only teams from Maharashtra.
